The Story

Two women traveled in utero aboard a sinking ship fleeing Vietnam during the Fall of Saigon in 1975. One was born at sea, the other in a refugee camp weeks later. Decades later, they are just beginning to uncover the profound impact of their origins.

The Event

A cargo ship called the MS Trường Xuân was leaving Vietnam during the Fall of Saigon on April 30th, 1975 with thousands racing to get on board. Among them were 2 pregnant mothers carrying their unborn babies in the womb. One of them gave birth to a baby girl onboard the sinking Vietnamese ship. Another mother gave birth to baby girl in a refugee camp 2 short weeks later, after the MS ​Trường Xuân was rescued by a Danish Ship, the Clara Maersk.
